Diaper Doublers

There comes a time for every parent when ordinary diapers may not be enough. Commonly, ordinary diapers used at night will result in a wet crib in the morning. There is a solution, however. Some parents use diaper doublers at night and for any other time when changing is not going to be so easy, such as on a long trip. A doubler is an insert of fabric, which is economical but absorbent, to effectively double the absorbency of the diaper.

One interesting way of using a diaper doubler is as a liner for when you expect a bowel movement. This will mean that any staining will be on the doubler and not on the diaper. Diaper doublers are so cheap that you can discard them once they become very stained, thus saving your more expensive pure cotton diapers.

Blue Penguin makes a great diaper doubler that you can fit inside any diaper of your choice. It is constructed of two layers of soft cotton flannel to be gentle on your baby's skin, with two layers of highly absorbent cotton terry at the back for super absorbing power. These come in one size (5x11") and are sold in packs of six.

These are very reasonably priced at $8.00 per pack. With free shipping, you'll want to get a good supply to make sure you never have leaks during the night or on the road. Remember that when you use diaper doublers you may need to use a size larger diaper cover to avoid tightness. Some diaper covers are cut loose for this very reason.
